Traffic Generation
There are a host of traffic generation techniques. But in words of one syllable, there are three ways to generate traffic. You can:
- Buy Traffic
- Borrow Traffic
- Build Traffic
You can buy traffic with paid advertising. This may be Pay Per Click (PPC) advertising like Google Adwords, banner advertising, classified ads - any type of advertising that you pay for.
By working with affiliates and JV partners so that your product is offered and sold to their traffic.
Building traffic means developing traffic through your own efforts with Search Engine Optimisation techniques that move you further up the search engine rankings, make you more visible and therefore get you more traffic. Building traffic is free - but takes your time.

If you have participated in the Traffic Webinars over the last 2 days you will have seen that Commenting and Trackbacks are very powerful in generating relevant traffic.
You sound negative about Articles. But these are actually very effective and cumulative. Their effect will actually last longer than the Commenting and Trackbacks on blogs because you are making a permanent contribution to web content on other people's websites.
